Ever hear that expression “just keep chipping away at it”? I have heard it a lot lately. It originally comes from a story about a stonecutter who whacks away at a large stone for days upon days until finally with one blow the rock splits into two pieces. This story is a metaphor for PERSISTENCE. It means don’t give up because eventually you will overcome. It is not about splitting a rock into two. Our country and Constitution are the rock of Freedom and Democracy. And there are a lot of freedoms we enjoy. There are a lot of people with strong opposing convictions right now. And the anger and bitterness and disagreement and fighting and destruction are all about wanting to be right.
A major takeaway point is that if the rock of our country is broken then I am fairly certain that generations of people worldwide will be impacted. Intervention is needed to moderate the two sides.
If you want to chip away at something the best place is to start with yourself, shaving away at all the rough edges and imperfections. I believe that is what our journey is about. How can you make anything else right if you are not right with yourself first? And how about being right with God? Two quotes below about the metaphor of Persistence. I persist on changing myself and helping others to better their lives.
