You get to assign what is meaningful and what is meaningless. Often the meanings we assign are based upon beliefs that we formed a long, long time ago, or upon past experiences. The important thing to notice is whether we have assigned something as being painful or pleasurable. There is absolutely nothing wrong with questioning whether the current situation warrants a different response, a different meaning, a different label. I often caution clients about putting labels on persons or things because they may be focused on a single perspective. I especially caution them to not put labels on themselves. These labels will tend to be reinforced, reinforcing a limiting belief. And the limiting belief will often carry over to other parts of your life. Want to be a winner? Just act like one, it is entirely possible to act your way into good thinking.
