In the aftermath of HELENE I blogged about overwhelm. I’ve been volunteering at the relief site at our local Indian Rocks Beach these past 2 weekends. I have encountered of lot of different people and seen the power of overwhelm. It takes away the ability to make even simple decisions. Like how to get big and heavy things out of a home that has been flooded without having lots of manpower. Since the household item is destroyed already, break it up, cut it up, chop it up, disassemble it inside the home. You can easily manage smaller pieces. Make sure you eat and drink water, time goes by quickly when you are busy working.
The sense of frustration is building up too. It’s noticeable at the gas stations, I hear about the shortages of humidifiers, power, internet. What is frustration? It is the feeling that you are not going to get something AND never will. That makes a first cousin to fear because you have to step into the future to imagine you are not going to get the something. The message frustration delivers is that your efforts are not yielding the results you expect, signaling a need for a change in approach.
The solution to overcoming frustration is to shift your strategy or mindset. This might involve learning something new, being more flexible, or adjusting your expectations. It’s also important to view frustration as a sign of growth, motivating you to refine your actions rather than give up. REMEMBER YOU ONLY FAIL IF YOU QUIT. And that’s what the #NOFAILUREZONE is all about. Hang in there, but get a longer rope.
