I really like a lot of the old school coaches: Hill, Carnegie, and Fox. Mr. Hill gave us this one “If you can Conceive It, and Believe It, then you can Achieve It”. That’s the CBA.
If an idea is believable then there is a large amount of certainty attached to it. That makes it achievable. Would you believe me if I told you that small, incremental changes can stack up to result in a massive achievement?
The CBA was used in the NBA.
The legendary Lakers Coach Pat Riley did. After failing to make the NBA championship round in 1986 he needed to motivate his amazingly talented team whom was utterly crushed with disappointment. He Conceived a strategy whereby if every player improved in 5 areas by just 1% each that they would have enough team improvement to win the 1987 championship. Kareem, Magic, Coop, Byron and others bought into that concept of just 1% in 5 areas and Believed it. They Achieved it defeating the Celtics 4-2 in the championship series.
