Now it is time to take that Big Dream and turn it into a reality. First off it must be exciting, the dream itself should provide enough motivational energy to drive you through some sticking and pain points. Start by writing down why you MUST accomplish the dream. You will want to refer to this for motivation when you hit some potholes and speed bumps in the road, you will know these when you start asking questions like “why am I doing this?” or saying things like “I am never going to get there”. The next thing you want to do is to assign a schedule and deadline for achieving the goal. There may be smaller goals or milestones along the journey. When you achieve a milestone you should celebrate it in some way, note it in your original dream document.
In this way I achieved my Masters and PhD degrees while working full time and going through a horrific experience of child death, a newborn, while I was pursuing my goal. That was a heck of a pot hole in my journey.
