Have you ever seen an athlete do the triple jump? I was a triple jumper from junior high through college. I was county and Section 9 champion, and placed 4th in the Eastern States meet both my junior abs senior years of high school. I placed 3rd in the Western Athletic Conference as a 17-year old walk-on freshman and was a varsity letterman. The number 1 and 2 in the conference graduated. So why did I not go on into the NFL like another triple jumper, Henry Ellard if the Rams? Simple, I lost sight of the goal and quit the team because I wasn’t given a full ride scholarship although I came an inch and a half from hitting 50-feet, a world class jump. I grew another 3 inches and put on some more weight before graduating college.
What if I had continued to do the daily training? If I had stayed on another year I would have possibly been in the top 2 and gone into NCAA. I was a competitor.
Wish I knew what I know today, but at least I can share it with you. Do something everyday, even if small, to move you closer to your goals. In fact, write out what you will do in the next 7 days. And avoid quitting in spite of an actual, or worse yet, a perceived obstacle because you only fail if you quit.
