This is a little ditty on how to focus on your goals and put your brain to work for you.
The Reticular Activating System (RAS) is a network of nerves located in the brainstem that plays a crucial role in regulating a person’s level of consciousness, attention, and alertness. It acts as a filter for incoming information, determining which information is important enough to be passed on to the cerebral cortex for further processing. This system can be programmed to help a person achieve goals in their personal and business life. (Picture from Pixaby)

To program the RAS, a person can start by identifying their specific goals and then consistently focusing their thoughts and attention on those goals. For example, if a person’s goal is to become more financially successful, they can read books on finance, listen to podcasts about money management, and surround themselves with successful, financially-savvy people. Additionally, in business life, a person can actively seek out new opportunities and information that are related to their goals and actively filter out distractions that are not related to their goals.
There are several methods and tools that can help a person focus on their goals, such as:
-Using a planner or calendar to schedule time for goal-related activities
-Creating a vision board to keep their goals in mind
-Setting reminders throughout the day to focus on goals
-Meditation and mindfulness practices to stay focused and centered
-Using apps and tools to block distractions, such as social media or email during work hours.
By consistently focusing their thoughts and attention on their goals, the RAS will begin to filter out irrelevant information and bring the person’s attention to the information that is most relevant to achieving their goals, and with these tools to help them focus, they can increase their chances of success.
