Recall the pervasive problem view from yesterday. It says because there is a problem in one place there is a problem everywhere. Today in the early stages of a the pandemic it is easy to fall into a pattern of fear and hopelessness imagining what is to happen.
Trust me I get it. People are out of work, 401ks and IRAs and ROTHs getting destroyed, there are older relatives who need care, you care in a must work situation (like me), all that money spent on orthodontics and it will be weeks or months, THERE’s NO FREAKING TOILET PAPER ANYWHERE (not true) and besides this is a nasty respiratory infection. This list could go on and on.
When you look at all these challenges simultaneously it is very easy to get into the pervasive mindset, become overwhelmed and frustrated, both first cousins of FEAR. Go back and read those blogs.
The key here is to find one or more little challenges that can be addressed right now. Tackle those and give yourself some credit. Know that you are designed to be an overcomer. Allowing FEAR and WORRY into your household should be avoided at all costs; concern is fine – that is just noticing a challenge that will need attention. As I have said before the enemy is a 2 horse circus – the first strategy is to introduce fear and the second is to separate from the herd or divide and conquer. Be vigilant for these things and do not allow yourself to be sucked in. Why invite the enemy in at all?
Stay focused on your dreams, time is going to go by anyway. Make the most of your time. Pray for your family, friends, neighbors, community, state, country, leaders. Meditate and listen and still your mind. Focus on great experiences and memories. And remember this – the enemy was already defeated, leave the enemy outside your house and mind.
Godspeed!
