If I were the coach of the 49’ers I would definitely be looking for a way to use the pain of losing the Super Bowl to great advantage, already looking to next season to make another run for the prize. Some people will put of their taxes because they can be a very painful experience. But come 14 April you can bet they will rush to file or request an extension to avoid an even more painful experience.
Pain can be a motivator for a great and noble cause. Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) is a great example of that.
Here’s another spin – we can choose what it is that we allow to be painful or pleasurable. I had a big proposal and competition that I put heart, soul and resources of time and money into that I did not win. I was a bit disgruntled about it for a period of time and then I rearranged my perspective. Instead of continuing to take offense I chose to take action. That action is about to pay off in a huge way. I turned the pain into pleasure.
