#Regret #Frustration #Fear Our brains make decisions about what to do based upon experiences and teachings of the past. The danger of looking in the rear view mirror too much is the first hashtag- regret. We long to undo decisions that we have come to regret, a waste time and energy which leads only to hashtag two, frustration. Guess what, we all made mistakes and we are going to make more. It’s just not possible to live an errorless life. But this habit of looking back brings the third hashtag, fear, the feeling that we will not get what we want or will lose what we have, a total projection into a future that really is as ethereal as the past, made up, imaginary, a hallucination. When you are driving do you spend most of your time looking in the rear view mirror or out the front windshield? So why not look through the front windshield and enjoy the present, focusing on where we are right now? And sometimes we will see hazards in the road – difficulties- mistakes, but ONLY if that is the meaning we assign to them, they are really opportunities for us to navigate through, to stretch and grow.
