Situational Awareness or SA is a term used in some of the defense related circles I run in and the definition of SA is quite self-explanatory. I am going to put a coaching spin on it here and reframe SA in the perspective of beliefs and empowerment.
Here’s the setup: “problems in our lives and society seem overwhelming“. In this setup the SA should identify the message of “doing to much too fast”. But let’s do some SA on the underlying belief which is that the challenges (because that is a much more empowering word to use than problem) are being seen as both “permanent and pervasive”. There is usually a sense of hopelessness and frustration when the belief has taken root, the belief that things will never change or get any better. The appropriate place for such a belief is the dumpster. And to put these disempowering beliefs in the dumpster merely requires taking some action towards the “way you MUST” have it.
Let that percolate then get busy.
