Today would have been my Mother’s 91st Birthday. In her last few years there were many hospital visits and stays, several of which involved surgeries, but she never seemed to worry about them much – she always wanted to leave the hospital, and in fact one time did still wearing some of the things the practitioners had attached to her. Even the last visit to the hospital and then hospice she did not worry long. What was her secret? Well the title of the blurb kind of gave that away. The secret is to be, and REMAIN, in a state of gratitude. You see our brains, neurology and body chemistry can at times experience two emotions simultaneously (laughing and crying simultaneously is one you will see), but they can only sustain one of those after a period of perhaps 30 seconds or less. Happy Birthday Mom – thanks for the great lessons and hope you are tearing up the bowling lanes in Heaven – no sand bagging!
